Two Former Women's Tennis Players Reach Resortquest Pro Women's Open Main Draws

MEMPHIS, Tenn.- The University of Memphis women's tennis program has a pair of former players, Mariya Slupska and Ashley Murdock, who have qualified for the main draw in both singles and doubles of the Resortquest Pro Women's Open tennis tournament in Bethany Beach, Del.
Slupska won a pair of matches in the qualifying draw against Gabrielle Moxey (BAH) and Joelle Kissell (USA) to reach the main draw. Kissell was the top player for N.C. State this past year and finished the season ranked No. 32 in the final ITA Rankings. Slupska ended the 2012 season with a 17-4 singles record in dual meets and a No. 98 ranking. With the berth into the main draw, Slupska will face No. 7-seed Nadia Echeverria Alam (USA) in the first round.
Murdock, who played at the U of M from 2008-10, is slated to play the No. 2-seed Anastasia Kharchenko (UKR) in her opening round match. During her senior year at Memphis, Murdock posted a 17-12 record in dual meets at No. 1 singles.
The two former Tigers paired together in doubles to defeat Elizabeth Begley (USA) and Olena Leonchuk (UKR) in the qualifying round. Slupska and Murdock will play Caroline Dailey (USA) and Amanda Rodgers (USA) in the round of 16 of the main doubles draw.
