Women's Tennis Back in Action in El Paso This Weekend

EL PASO, Texas - - The University of Memphis women's tennis team will be back in action this weekend, participating in the 2007 Miner Fall Invitational at C-USA member UTEP, beginning on Friday. The tournament, which is being played at the El Paso Youth Tennis Center, has a pair of Lady Tiger teammates paired off against one another right away in the first round, as junior Kristin Chamberlain is scheduled to face teammate Marjorie Ondeck at 9 a.m., Friday. While head coach Lee Taylor Walker may try to get that fixed at the coaches' meeting, the duo will be Memphis' two entries in the Flight 2 singles bracket. The winner of that match advances to face UTEP's Harmonie Chatagner at 9 a.m., Saturday. In Flight 3 singles, junior Ekin Zafir and sophomore Amanda Brown will open play at 9 a.m., Friday. Zafir will face Monterrey Tech's Cordelia Montemajor, while Brown will face Lee College's Adriana Hernandez. The winners of each match will also advance to a 9 a.m., Saturday match. In Flight 4 singles, Memphis' Lindsey Wiseman will face New Mexico State's Lindsey Green at 9 a.m., while Dara Toulch will open against Monterrey Tech's Beatriz Bravo. The tournament features UTEP, Lee College, Monterrey Tech (Mexico), New Mexico State, Western New Mexico, and a handful of players from Arizona. All three Lady Tiger doubles tandems will play in the Flight 2 doubles. Dara Toulch and Amanda Brown will face Lee College's Hernandez and Creed at 11 a.m., Friday, with the winners advancing to a 2 p.m., Friday match. Kristin Chamberlain and Ekin Zafir will open against New Mexico State's Discordia and Rios, and Marjorie Ondeck and Lindsey Wiseman will play UTEP's Deluca/Michaud, all at 11 a.m.
