PACIFIC PALISADES, Calif.-- Lady Tiger Courtney Collins will not advance to the qualifying draw in singles at the 2010 Riviera/Intercollegiate Tennis Association Women's All-American Championships on Saturday.

The sophomore from Fulton, Miss., fell to the Lilly Kimbell (Georgia) despite taking the first set, 7-5.

"After being down 5-2 in the first she went on to win 9 out of 11 games and was cruising to the finish line so it seemed," said head coach Lee Taylor Walker. "She played some careless points at 4-2 and 4-3 and the entire momentum shifted. From there, it was a battle and all came down to execution."

Kimbell closed out the match with 7-5 win in the second set a 6-4 victory in the third set.

"It was a dissappointing loss, but Courtney learned a lot from it and she and Stef are looking forward to doubles," Coach Walker said.

Collins will compete again in qualifying doubles with freshman Stefanie Mikesz from Bardowick, Germany. Collins and Mikesz are slated to take on Chelcie Abajian and Breanne Smutko (Illinois) on Tuesday.
