The University of Memphis women's tennis team will wrap up its 2006-07 fall season by hosting the annual Lady Tiger Invitational, starting on Friday. Due to the University of Memphis tennis court conditions, the tournament will be played on the courts at Rhodes College, beginning at 9 a.m., Friday and Saturday. The eight participating teams will play two rounds of doubles and two rounds of singles each day, playing in four brackets of singles and two of doubles.

Joining the Lady Tigers in the tournament will be Arkansas State, Ball State, Campbell University, Murray State, Stephen F Austin, Samford, Southern Illinois and Southern Miss. The tournament will open with two rounds of doubles, Friday morning. For the Lady Tigers Majorie Ondeck and Alex Tjioe will open against SIU's Cruise and Flannery in Division 1 doubles, while teammates Ekin Zafir and Dara Toulch and Flavia Russo and Amanda Brown play in Division 2 doubles. Zafir and Toulch will face Samford's McMiller and Baker, while Russo and Brown will face Murray State's Alvarez and Ottosen.

In singles, the three Lady Tiger freshmen lead the team with three singles victories apiece so far on the season. Marjorie Ondeck, sporting a 3-4 overall record, will play in the Division I singles bracket, facing Campbell's Blanca Saenz to open her singles draw. In Division 2 singles, sophomore Ekin Zafir will open her schedule against Southern Illinois' Michela Cruise. In Division 3 singles, freshman Dara Toulch, another 3-4 freshman, will face Stephen F. Austin's Tanya Smolnikova, while teammate Alex Tjioe, playing in her final home match before her December graduation, will face Campbell's Tanya Ahuja.

In Division 4 singles, freshman Amanda Brown, also with a 3-4 record, will receive a first round bye, then will face Stephen F. Austin's Mary Harrison, who will also receive a first round bye. Sophomore Flavia Russo will round out the Lady Tiger participants in Division 4 singles, where she will face Stephen F. Austin's Niki Schoenauer.
