MEMPHIS, Tenn. - University of Memphis head women's tennis coach Lee Taylor Walker announced the Lady Tigers' 2013 spring schedule Tuesday, which includes 13 home matches and 10 matches against teams that finished in the top-75 of ITA's final 2012 rankings.

"I'm really excited about our schedule this year," Walker said. "Last year, I did not give our team enough opportunities to break through. This year, we have more than enough and our team is ready to compete with anybody. The level will be high but our team is prepared for this by our fall competition and having a good balance of upperclassmen with experience."

The Lady Tigers will begin the season Jan. 16 with matches against Arkansas-Pine Bluff and UT Martin before heading to the Georgia Invitational, Jan. 18-20. Joining Memphis and Georgia will be Kansas State and Troy for the tournament in Athens. The following week, Memphis will participate in the ITA Kick-Off Weekend in Tuscaloosa, Ala., Jan. 26-27, for a chance to move on to the ITA National Women's Team Indoor Championship, Feb. 8-11, in Charlottesville, Va. The kick-off tournament in Tuscaloosa will feature Alabama, Tulsa and Clemson alongside the Lady Tigers.

"Last year's success provided us with an invite to the National Indoor Championships for the first time in school history," Walker said. "We look forward to making a deep run in this tournament to get our season started."

Memphis will return to The Racquet Club in mid-February to host Kansas State (Feb. 15), Columbia (Feb. 17) and Virginia (Feb. 24), who all finished the 2012 season ranked in the top-75.

The Lady Tigers will take I-40 to Nashville on Feb. 27 to face Vanderbilt before heading west to Tempe, Ariz., where they will go up against Arizona State (Mar. 3) and Saint Mary's (Mar. 4).

Memphis begins an eight-match homestand on Mar. 8 when they face conference foe UCF before welcoming Saint Louis and Murray State on Mar. 10. Illinois State (Mar. 16), South Alabama (Mar. 23) and Southern Illinois (Mar. 23) will also travel to Memphis. On Mar. 30, the Lady Tigers will host Conference USA opponents UTEP and Southern Miss for Alumni Weekend and Senior Day, honoring Courtney Collins, Kelly Gray and Tiffany Welcher. The following week, the Lady Tigers will travel to South Bend, Ind., to take on Notre Dame, Apr. 7. Memphis will close out the regular season with a trip to Tulsa to face the defending C-USA champion on Apr. 13 before taking on UT Arlington the following day in a neutral site match.

"We always enjoy taking our team to some different places, and heading out west to Arizona and up to Chicago will be a good time," Walker said.

The Conference USA Championships will be held Apr. 18-21 at the John E. Hoff Courts on the campus of the University of Houston. The first and second rounds of the NCAA Tournament will take place May 10-12 at sites yet to be determined. The NCAA Team and Individual National Championship will be held May 16-27 at the Khan Outdoor Tennis Complex in Urbana, Ill.

Memphis is coming off an impressive fall campaign as the Lady Tigers defeated members from Florida's 2012 national championship squad in the singles and doubles finals at the Dick Vitale Lakewood Ranch Intercollegiate Clay Court Classic to end the fall season. Overall, the team posted a 53-27 singles record and a 29-14 mark in doubles.
