Stan Hollenbeck is in his third year as a Lady Tiger assistant coach after serving as head cross country coach at Christian Brothers University, also located in Memphis.
Hollenbeck coaches the women's distance runners, as well as the women's cross country team.
Hollenbeck has been running competitively his entire life, and brings his valuable experience of working with distance runners with him to the University of Memphis.
He worked at Christian Brothers from 1994-96, where he started the cross country program from scratch. He took his men's cross country team to the NAIA National Championship in just its second year of competition.
While a graduate studet at Ole Miss, Hollenbeck worked under track coach Dr. Ken Gibson.
Hollenbeck has competed in 17 marathons, and has run in countless Master's track and field competitions. He was instrumental in bringing the USA Cross Country trials to Memphis from 1992-94. He also helped ensure that the 1998 Conference USA Championships, held at Plough Park in Memphis, were a big success. He has served as president of the Memphis Runners Track Club for one year.
Over the past seven years, Hollenbeck has volunteered his time to work with the Leukemia Society's Team in Training program, a group of people who run marathons and half marathons to raise money for leukemia research.
