CARBONDALE, Ill. - The Tigers round out the final day of competition at the Saluki Booster. Top performances by the whole team, gave Memphis the start they needed to the new year.

The throwing events continued where they left off from yesterday, with the Tigers placing high. Susan King and Sivan Aballi faired well in the shot put knocking down second and third place with throws of 16.51 meters (54-02.00) and 15.72 meters (51-07.00). Glen Edwards placed second on the men's side in the same event with a launch of 16.96 meters (55-07.75).

Charlotte Abrahamsen won the women's high jump with a height of 1.70 meters (5-07.00). Chen Edri took fourth, finishing at 1.60 meters (5-03.00).

The freshmen jumping duo of Aaron Whetstone and Jerome Leslie placed fifth and seventh in the long jump. Whetstone had a distance of 13.94 meters (45-09.00) and 13.55 meters (44-05.50).

LaShundra Kershaw placed third in the 60 meter dash with a time of 7.71. She improved her semifinal time by .06. Frashod Barlow ran a 6.92 in the dash placing third. He had a semifinal time of 7.00.

Lhayana Dallas placed third in the 60 meter hurdles, crossing the line in a time of 9.25. Amaechi Oselukwue placed fourth in the hurdles in a time of 8.26, only .05 off his personal best. Darius Anderson and Preston Williams also did well in the same event, placing fourth and seventh.

Jessica Wright brought home first place in the 400 meters. She bested a field of 29 to claim her first collegiate win. Wright clocked in a time of 58.32.

Tina Sherratt took second in the 800 meters crossing the line in 2:18.68. Guy Hudson finished the 800 in 2:00.50.

The Tigers return to action again next weekend as they head across the bridge to the Arkansas State Invite.
