Gladstein Invite Day 1 Results
Sophomore Laura Toldy took third place in the pentathlon with a score of 3541. Tiger sophomore throwers Allison Hotz and Cyarra Wells also set new personal bests, and took top ten finishes in the women's shot put. Hotz placed ninth with a mark of 14.01m (45-11.75) beating here previous best of 13.72 (45-00.25). Wells took tenth with a throw of 13.95m (45-09.25) passing her previous top mark of 12.46m (40-10.50).
Senior Karlis Pujats placed second in the men's pole vault clearing 5.17m (16-11.50). In other men's final competition Tom Wilcox and Andrew Miller placed fourth and fifth respectively in the men's weight throw. Willcox finished with a mark of 17.84m (58-06.50), while Miller landed at 17.46m (57-03.50).
Memphis saw improvement on the track as both men and women sprinters qualified for finals competition set for day two of the meet. LaMarvin Ashley (6.92), Jaz Davis (6.99), and Taurean Nixon (6.88) all turned in times that qualified in the men's 60-meter dash preliminary round. In the women's 60 dash preliminary, DaQuanya Byrd-West (7.83) also punched her ticket for day two.
Bronte Smith moved on to the women's 60-meter hurdle final as she qualified at 8.98, while Robert Jackson and Tevin Jones moved on the men's as they turned in marks of 8.02 and 8.46 respectively.
Action resumes Saturday at the Gladstein Invitational at 9:00 am CT. Results from the meet will be posted on gotigersgo.com as they become available.
