Lady Tigers Bring Home Three Second-Place Finishes from Illini Classic
Feb. 3, 2001 Champaign, Ill.- - The Lady Tiger track and field team had some big performances from its freshman class at the Illinois Illini Classic, Saturday. Freshman Keenan Gibson won her heat in the 60-meter dash to advance to the finals, where she placed fifth with a time of 7.70 seconds. Gibson posted one of the Lady Tigers' four second-place finishes in the 200, where she finished with a time of 24.79 seconds. Lisa-Marie Hyman, another of the 2001 freshman class, also posted a second-place finish, this one in the triple jump, where she jumped 11.45 meters (37-6.75) to finish behind Ball State's Patricia Soman. Junior Kameilah Amaya (Carbondale, Ill./Carbondale) rounded out the second-place finishers with her silver in the 20-pound weight throw. Amaya had a best toss of 16.52 meters (54-2.50). Junior Barbara Wine placed third in the shotput, with a distance of 13.55 meters (44-5.50), while freshman Autumn Parkey (Germantown, Tenn.) and sophomore Leslie Ann Daley added a pair of fourth-place finishes in the pole vault and the 600-meter run, respectively.
