Day One Stats Get Acrobat Reader

CARBONDALE, Ill. - Memphis' women's squad is runner-up following Day One competition at the SIU McDonald's Invite, where they had two top-three finishes on the meet's opening day. Host Southern Illinois leads the event with 45 points, while Memphis finished with 21.

Junior Janelle Mason was runner-up in the pole vault after a 3.38m (11' 1") vault. Sophomore Alyssa Northcutt was fourth in the event following a 3.08m (10' 1.25") mark.

Senior Desiree' Blow had her best long jump of the season with a 5.39m (17' 8.25") leap. Blow's long jump was the best by a Lady Tiger this indoor season.

In women's weight throw action, three Tigers made the finals. Redshirt freshman Britta Jaarats (fifth, 16.27m) and freshman Allison Hotz (sixth, 15.60m) earned points for the U of M, while freshman Cyarra Wells (seventh, 15.54m) also made the finals.

The SIU McDonald's will continue tomorrow, with the conclusion of the field events scheduled to begin at 10 a.m. The track events are slated to begin at 10:30 a.m.
