@MemTigersTF_XC Two Tigers Find the Podium on Day Two of the American Indoor Championships

NEW YORK, N.Y.-The Unviersity of Memphis women’s track and field team placed sixth overall (55.5 points) and found the podium in individual events on the final day of the inaugural American Athletic Conference Indoor Championship, on Saturday. SMU took home the team championship tallying 118.5 points.
Maya Williamson took silver in the 800m for eight points with a time of 2:06.30. Williamson’ time broke her own program-record of 2:07.45 set earlier this season. Jenny Johnston and Martina Rodriguez added four and three points respectively with Johnston taking fifth at 2:12.90 and Rodriguez taking sixth at 2:13.50.
Vivian Brandhoff took silver in the shot put tallying eight points. Brandoff landed on the podium with a throw of 15.88m (52’1.25”) establishing a new personal-best.
Memphis totaled four points on the day in the high jump, triple jump and 4 x 400m relay. Laura Toldy placed seventh in the high jump clearing 1.72m (5’7.75”) for two points. Chardae Greenlee placed eighth in the triple jump at 12.19m (40’) for one points. The 4 x 400m relay team of Meghan Christensen, Destinee Landsden, Monica Mason and Williamson added one more point with an eighth place finish of 3:50.38.
On day one, the Tigers opened the scoring tallying 17.5 points in the pole vault. Clara Amat-Fernandez took silver scoring eight points and setting a new program-record at a height of 4.08m (13’4.5”). Amat-Fernandez broke teammate Sabrina Hochreuther’s program-record of 4.04m (13’2.5”) set in 2013.
Hochreuther took bronze scoring 5.5 points tying Houston’s Karly King for third at 3.98m (13’.75”). Carolina Carmichael rounded out Memphis’ pole vault scoring with four more points in a fifth place finish of 3.88m (12’8.75”), a new personal-best.
Cyarra Wells notched five points for the Tigers taking fourth in the weight throw with a mark of 18.63m (61’1.5”). In track events, Memphis’ Julia Merbach, Mason, Johnston and Rodriguez teamed up for a fifth place finish in the distance medley scoring four points with at time of 11:50.66.
Toldy added two more points in the pentathlon taking seventh with 3,390 points. Toldy took 10th in the 60m (9.17), fourth in the high jump (1.70m, 5’7”), 10th in the shot put (9.23m, 30’3.5”), 11th in the long jump (4.94m, 16’2.5”) and third in the 800m (2:25.81).
