Memphis Throwers Highlight Day One at Auburn

AUBURN, Ala.- Memphis track and field squads got back to work at the Auburn Tiger Classic, on Friday, competing in the triple jump, javelin and hammer.
In the only jumping event of the day, Memphis picked up a second place finish in the triple jump. Manuel Zeigler took the podium finish with a leap of 15.35m (50'4.5").
In the men's hammer open Tom Willcox took seventh with a mark of 48.91m (160'5"). Andrew Miller (55.30m, 181'5") and Will Hubber (46.24m, 151'8") finished 12th and 15th respectively in the men's hammer invitational. For the women, Cyarra Wells took 11th in the women hammer invitational with a throw of 47.47m (155'9").
Luis Hanssler took sixth in the men's javelin open at a distance of 50.34m (165'2"). Kyle Bynum took third in the men's javelin invitational with a throw of 63.75m (209'2") with teammate Thomas Poole taking ninth at 56.74m (186'2"). Xenia Rahn took fourth in the women's javelin invitational with a mark of 40.25m (132'1").
Action resumes at the Auburn Tiger Classic on Saturday beginning at 9 a.m. (CT). Final results from the meet will be posted on GoTigersGo.com as they are made available.
