The University of Memphis women's track team finished seventh out of 10 competing schools at the All Sport Classic at Southeast Missouri State, Saturday.
Led by the field team, the Lady Tigers finished with 52 points. Host Southeast Missouri State won the women's meet with 152 points while Middle Tennessee State finished fifth with 62 points and Arkansas State sixth with 52 points. Tennessee-Martin finished ninth with 19 points.
Junior Kameilah Amaya (Carbondale, Ill.) earned the Lady Tigers lone win in the women's hammer throw with a throw of 165-7. Junior Carla Hardy (College Park, Ga.) finished third in the hammer with a throw of 152-9.
The throwers had two of top four finishers in the shot. Freshman Monique Nelson (Freeport, Texas) finished second with a put of 44-1, while Hardy finished fourth with a distance of 41-10.50. The field crew earned a lot of Lady Tiger points with three finishers in the top five in the discus, led by Nelson's third place finish with a distance of 131-6. Freshman Adria Davis (Memphis, TN/Germantown) finished fourth in the discus, while Amaya finished fifth.
The Lady Tiger sprinters, without senior Natalie Martindale for this meet, were led by senior Carla Ross (Brownsville, TN/Haywood), who finished fifth in the 400-meter dash.
The Lady Tigers travel to Louisiana State next weekend.
