Big Day For Hurdlers at Ole Miss Invite

OXFORD, Miss. - The University of Memphis track and field squad finished competition at the Ole Miss Invitational in Oxford, Miss. On Saturday, April 11.
For the Tigers on the day, the strongest performances came from the hurdlers. Freshman Robert Jackson set a personal best mark of 1.74 in the 110m hurdles and placed in fourth. Teammate sophomore Darius Anderson also set a personal best mark in the 110 hurdles with a time of 14.85 landing him in sixth-place. Sophomore Richard Lowe just missed an NCAA regional qualifying mark in the 400m hurdles with a personal best time of 52.78 in fifth-place.
On the women's side sophomore Holland Thomas set a season best mark in the 100m hurdles with a time of 14.67 giving her a ninth place finish.
Freshman Kyosha Yarbrough grabbed a fourth-place finish with a long jump mark of 5.80m (19-00.50) and fellow freshman Inger Anne Froysedal grabbed sixth-place with a mark of 5.70m (18-08.50). Senior Sivan Aballi recorded yet another NCAA regional qualifying mark with a shot put toss of 15.49m (50-10.00).
Senior Christian McDonald was solid in the field again as he set another NCAA regional qualifying mark of 61.65m (202-03) in the javelin throw in third-place. Sophomore Edwin Kipkorir grabbed a fifth-place finish with his personal best time in the 1,500m run in a time of 3:55.74. Finally, unattached Steffen Nerdal grabbed the event championship in the hammer throw with a massive personal best performance of 70.21m (230-04).
