Tigers Excel at John McDonnell Invite

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. - The University of Memphis men's and women's track and field teams sent their top competitors to the hog country for some fierce competition at the John McDonnell Invite.
Glen Edwards placed second in the shot put recording an NCAA Regioanal qualifying mark and personal-best mark of 17.11 meters (56-01.75) in the event. Knut Syversen also posted an NCAA qualifying mark of 17.06 meters, for a season and personal-best distance.
Susan King fouled all but one throw in the hammer, but still managed to secure a third place finish with a mark of 48.62 meters (159-06). Her luck was the same in the shot put, fouling all but two and still managed to come away with first place. King also placed sixth in the discus, while Sivan Aballi placed fifth. Aballi took second in the shot put, with a distance of 16.36 meters (53-08.25).
With a final throw of 49.14 meters (161-03) Seth Major bolted out a fourth place finish in the discus.
Amaechi Oselukwue placed eighth in the 110 hurdles, with a time of 15.07. In the men's 400 meter hurdles, Richard Lowe finished in a time of 54.37. Holland Thomas placed sixth in the women's 400 meter hurdles, with a time of 1:03.92.
Tina Sherratt crossed the line in the 1500 meters in a time of 4:36.58, taking second.
Christian McDonald posted a third place performance in the javelin, with a throw of 61.48 meters (201-08).
The Tigers return to action two weeks from now at the Ole Miss Invite in Oxford, Miss. on May 3.
