Tigers Throw on Day One of the War Eagle Invitational

AUBURN, Ala.- Memphis track and field squads returned to action at the War Eagle Invitational hosted by Auburn University on Friday. Tiger throwers took center stage competing in the hammer and javelin.
Kyle Bynum took first in the men's javelin with a throw of 60.67m (199'). Thomas Poole (52.70m, 172'11") and Tuure Hollo (49.73m, 163'2") placed fifth and eighth respectively. For the women, Xenia Rahn took second at 41.81m (137'2"), while Quaniqua Jones placed ninth at 24.17m (79'3").
In the hammer, Andrew Miller was the top finisher for the men taking second at 55.86m (183'3"), with Matt Sipe (49.88m, 163'8"), Will Hubber (49.39, 162') and Tom Willcox (47.03, 143'3") placing eighth, ninth and 11th respectively. On the women's side, Britta Jaarats (50.30m, 165') and Cyarra Wells (48.16m, 158') placed sixth and eighth.
Action resumes at the War Eagle Invitational on Saturday with remaining field events beginning at 11 a.m. (CT) followed by running events at 1 p.m. (CT). Final results from the meet will be posted on GoTigersGo.com at they are made available.
