AUBURN, Ala.- With the Conference USA Outdoor Championships less than three weeks away, Memphis track and field squads looked to sharpen their performances at the War Eagle Invitational on Saturday. The Tigers walked away with one new school record and several new personal best.

Monica Mason, Kala Funderburk, Keyona Neal and Maya Williamson took second place and broke their own school record in the women's 4 x 400m relay with a time 3:39.10. The four Tigers currently hold the program's outdoor and indoor record in the event.

"Very proud of the ladies 4 x 400m effort," said head coach Kevin Robinson. "They ran a great relay for us and I expect them to continue to improve."

Funderburk and Neal saw action in other sprint events. Funderburk (24.14) took 12th in the 200m dash, while Neal (54.34) finished sixth in the 400m dash.

Following a strong performance at last week's Sea Ray Relays, senior Robert Jackson took second in the 110m hurdles with a time of 13.98. Fellow hurdler Brandon Williams ran fourth in the men's 400m hurdles, crossing the line at 52.28.

In the men's pole vault, Austin Crenshaw took second place and set a new personal-best clearing 5.20m. Senior Karlis Pujats took third at a height of 4.90m.

"Austin Crenshaw and Brandon Williams both performed at a level that will take them to the NCAA regional meet, said Robinson. " I'm very pleased with them. Austin finally breaking that 17 foot barrier is a huge accomplishment for him."

In the men's 800m run Julien Wolf and Austin Carter recorded new personal bests. Wolf crossed the line at 1:55.90, whole Carter checked in with at time of 1:56.50. For the women Nandia Taylor took eighth and set a new personal-best with a time of 2:15.12.

Pulling double duty for the men Wolf took 12th place in the 1,500m run with a time of 4:01.02. On the women's side, Jasmine Darden took third crossing the line at 4:45.06.

In the women's high jump, Laura Toldy (1.70m), Kirsten Berding (1.65m) took third and fifth place, while and Xenia Rahn (1.60m) tied for sixth. Darius Lynwood took fourth in the men's high jump clearing the bar at 2.12m.

Freshman Marc Kalschka took sixth in the men's long jump with a leap of 7.16m. Fellow jumper, Jaleen White took 14th landing at 6.64m.

Sophomore Tom Willcox took ninth place in the men's shot put with a throw of 15.31m. For the women, Britta Jaarats (13.82m), Allison Hotz (13.74) and Anna-Maria Bischof (12.99m) finished fifth, sixth and ninth respectively.

Bischof also took sixth in the women's discus with a mark of 42.71m. Kyle Bynum took fourth place in the men's discus with a throw of 46.26.

The Tigers return to action next Friday at home for the annual Memphis Invitational. Results from the meet will be posted to GoTigersGo.com as they become available.
