Women's Track Posts Two Top 10s at Penn Relays

PHILADELPHIA --- - The University of Memphis women's track and field team posted two top 10 finishes on the first day of events at the Penn Relays, Thursday. Junior Barbara Wine finished seventh in the shot, while junior Kameilah Amaya finished ninth in the hammer throw. Wine's best put in the shot was a 13.77 meter (45-2.25) effort. Penn State's Jai-nai O-Connor won the event with a mark of 14.59 meters (47-10.50). Amaya posted Memphis' other top 10 finish, with a best mark of 51.38 meters (168-7) in the hammer throw. Clemson's Jamine Moton won the hammer with a toss of 57.68 meters (189-3). The Lady Tigers finished fourth in their heat in all three relays they ran Friday (4x100, 4x200 and 4x400). In the 4x100, Memphis finished fourth in 46.15 behind Texas, St. Augustine's and Ohio State. In the 4x200, which Memphis ran in 1:39.37, the Lady Tigers finished behind Louisiana State, Tulane and Pittsburgh. The 4x400-meter team, finishing in a season-best 3:54.59, crossed the finish line behind East Stroudsburg, Bucknell and Central Connecticut State. In the 100-meter dash preliminaries, freshman Keenan Gibson finished fourth in her heat with a time of 11.75 behind Muna Lee from Louisiana State and Teneeshia Jones from Mississippi whom Gibson pushed into three-provisionally-qualifying times at the Big Cat Classic, Apr. 1st.
