@MemTigersTF_XC `s Carmichael Strikes Gold at the American Athletic Conference Outdoor Championship

TAMPA, Fla.-The University of Memphis women's track and field team struck gold and rested in sixth place (27 points) after day two of the American Athletic Conference Outdoor Track and Field Championship.
Carolina Carmichael took gold in the pole vault at a height of 4.08m (13'4.5") scoring 10 team points. Carmichael's performance established a new American Athletic Conference record. Clara Amat Fernandez and Sabrina Hochreuther placed in order third and fourth combining for 11 team points at a height of 3.98m (13'.75").
The Tigers scored six points in the shot put. Vivian Brandhoff tallied five points with a fourth place finish of 15.49m (50'10"). Britta Jaarats added one more team point placing eighth at 14.72m (48'3.5").
In preliminary track event action, Jenny Johnston punched her ticket for Sunday's 800m finals placing eighth at 2:11.83. In the 400m hurdle prelims, Maya Williamson took second at 59.03 qualifying for the finals.
The third and final day of competition at the American Athletic Conference Championship begins at 11:00 a.m. (CT) on Sunday. Final results will be posted on GoTigersGo.com as they are made available.
