2014 American Athletic Confernece Outdoor Track and Field Championship Women's Results 

TAMPA, Fla.-The University of Memphis women’s track and field team placed eighth (47 points) overall at the inaugural American Athletic Conference Outdoor Track and Field Championship, on Sunday. SMU took the conference title with a point total of 153.20.

“The women fought a good fight,” head track and field coach Kevin Robinson said. “We did a good job with the athletes we were counting on, but there was not the same capitalization on opportunities that we had with the men. These ladies have a lot of heart, and will develop to be very good athletes. We just need some time.”

On the final day of competition, the Tigers found the podium in two events. Maya Williamson took bronze in the 400m hurdles with a time of 58.46 for six team points. In the triple jump, Chardae Greenlee scored six points taking bronze with a leap of 12.34m (40’7”).

The Tigers also picked-up team points in three other events on the day. Vivian Brandoff notched three team points with a sixth place finish in the discus with a mark of 47.89m (157’1”). In the 800m, senior Jenny Johnston placed sixth for three points with a time of 2:13.44.

In the final event of the meet, the 4 x 400m relay, Memphis added two more points to complete the team total. The team of Monica Mason, Laura Toldy, Destinee Lansden and Williamson placed seventh in a time of 3:42.68.

On Saturday, Carolina Carmichael took gold in the pole vault at a height of 4.08m (13’4.5”) scoring 10 team points. Carmichael’s performance established a new American Athletic Conference record. Clara Amat Fernandez and Sabrina Hochreuther placed in order third and fourth combining for 11 team points at a height of 3.98m (13’.75”).

The Tigers scored six points in the shot put. Vivian Brandhoff tallied five points with a fourth place finish of 15.49m (50’10”). Britta Jaarats added one more team point placing eighth at 14.72m (48’3.5”).
