JONESBORO, Ark.- The Memphis Tiger track team went head to head with a talented Arkansas State squad Friday at the ASU Mini Meet. While the Tigers fell to the Indians on both the men's and women's sides, Memphis athletes won 11 of the 16 events in which they were entered and several competitors set new personal and season bests.

Women's high jumper Chen Edri broke her own school record in the event, clearing a personal-best 5-10 and qualifying for the NCAA Regional for the fourth time in her career.

For the first time in his collegiate career long jumper Brandon Winbush broke the 25-foot barrier, marking an impressive 25-01.75 on Friday. Winbush had already qualified for the NCAA Mideast Regional and currently sits at the top of Conference USA in the event.

Thrower Stephen Nerdal reached 200-10 in the hammer, marking the third time this season that the freshman has thrown over 200-feet in the event. In the shot put, Glen Edwards was the top collegiate finisher, followed closely by fellow Tiger Norbert Gulyas, who put up a season best 53-04.50.

Sprinter Amaechi Oselukwue won the 110-meter hurdles but once again came just short of qualifying for the NCAAs, turning in a 15.26.

In the women's pole vault, Ashton Baldwin and Whitney Bolton finished in first and second-place respectively. Memphis' female throwers took first, second and third-place in the shot put as well as the hammer throw.

The Tigers will next compete at the C-USA Outdoor Championships in Houston, starting May 10.
