Three Lady Tiger Pole Vaulters Earn All-C-USA Honors

ORLANDO, Fla. – The University of Memphis women’s track and field program closed day three of the Conference USA Outdoor Championships with three pole vaulters earning All-C-USA honors. The Lady Tigers were quite productive in the field. Sophomore pole vaulter Brittany Brewster shattered her personal best record of 3.05m (10-00.00) by vaulting 3.42m (11-04.50) in today’s competition. Brewster finished sixth to claim her second career C-USA performance. After finishing third at the C-USA Indoor Championships, freshman vaulter Lauren Gale takes home her second All C-USA honor with a seventh-place vault of 3.47m (11-04.50). Fellow freshman Alyssa Northcutt posted a personal best height of 3.32m (10-10.75) to finish eighth, earning her first All C-USA accolade. Sophomore Keyona Neal set a personal best time of 55.00 seconds in the 400m dash qualifying with the fifth-best time. The 400m dash final is slated to take place under the lights of the UCF Track and Soccer Complex at 7:00 p.m. The Gary, Ind. native will also compete in the 4x400 relay for the Lady Tigers. A personal-best time of 1:01.63 has propelled Holland Thomas to tomorrow’s 400m hurdles final which is scheduled for 7:50 p.m. Fellow hurdlers Quaniqua Jones and Desiree’ Blow also capped off their days by setting new personal best records clocking 14.35 and 14.73, respectively, in the 100m hurdles. Sunday’s action will continue with the women’s javelin at 1 p.m. while the running events will begin at 6 p.m. with the 1,500-meter run.
