Track and Field Completes Day One of NCAA Mideast Regionals
May 30, 2008 FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. - The University of Memphis men's and women's track and field teams completed the first day of the NCAA Mideast Regionals being held at John McDonnell Field in Fayettevill, Ark. Senior shot putter Glen Edwards competed in his last meet in a Tiger uniform as he placed ninth in the event with a mark of 17.32 meters (56-10.00). Knut Syversen had a final throw of 16.42 meters (53-10.50) fouling all but one throw. Christian McDonald took seventh in the javelin throw as he had a final mark of 64.90 meters (212-11). Susan King had a mark of 51.19 meters (167-11) to capture sixth place in the women's discus throw. In the 110 meter hurdles senior Amaechi Oselukwue clocked a time of 14.45. The Tigers will be back in action tomorrow at the NCAA Mideast Regionals. Field events will begin at 11 a.m. with the men's hammer. Memphis has athletes competing in the hammer, shot put, triple jump and discus tomorrow.
