EUGENE, Ore. - At the 2008 Olympic Track and Field Trials Susan King and Gail Lee both put forth impressive efforts to make the U.S. Olympic Team as the finals of the women's shot put were held today.

King advanced to the top eight, where she then finished in sixth place with a mark of 17.93 meters (58-10.00). Her best mark came on her second throw of the day. King ends an amazing run in the 2008 Olympic Trials, but will still continue on with her throwing career.

Entering today's festivities, Lee had a throw of 17.33 meters (56-10.25) in the first round of the trials. Her best throw of the day came on her third throw where she had a mark of 16.60 meters (54-05.50), good enough for ninth place.

Michelle Carter won the shot put with a mark of 18.85 meters (61-10.25) to lead the women's shot put team to the Olympics. Tomorrow will be the last day of the U.S. Olympic Track and Field Trials. Opening ceremonies for the 2008 Beijing Olympics will be on Aug. 8, 2008.
