Tigers Finish Strong at Commodore Classic

NASHVILLE, Tenn.-University of Memphis cross country squads returned to action, on Saturday, at the Commodore Classic hosted by Vanderbilt University. The men's team finished six of 19 teams (180 points) with the women finishing 12 of 20 teams (325 points).
In the men's 8K Daniel Kuhman and James Maglasang both took top-10 finishes for the second meet in a row. Kuhman took fourth in a time 25:17.21 his second top-five finish this season, with Maglasang clocking a time of 25:24.39 taking eighth of 166 runners on the course.
Fabian Fiege (47th, 26:05.89), Julien Wolf (53rd, 26:10.64), Austin Carter (71st, 26:31.19), Stephen Tankersley (79th, 26:39.76) and Aidan Galasso (85th, 26:54.91) rounded out the Memphis men's top seven.
In the women's 5K, Martina Rodriguez and Jenny Johnston were the top-two finishers for Tigers. Rodriguez placed 33rd in a time of 18:08.45, with Johnston taking 69th at 18:58.27 out of 182 runners on the course.
Alisha Fitch (80th, 19:11.00), Meagan Nichols (96th, 19:36.95), Taylor Kriha (111th, 20:03.47), Nandia Taylor (128th, 20:26.89) and Claire Cash (130th, 20:29.63) rounded out the Memphis women's top seven.
