Riendeau Takes Third Place at UALR Open

LITTLE ROCK, Ark. --- Memphis Sophomore Daniele Riendeau turned in her second consecutive career best performance Saturday at the UALR Open, held at Rebsamen Golf Course in Little Rock. Riendeau led the U of M squad in the 5,000 meter race with a time of 18:30, on her way to a third place overall finish.
Four other Lady Tiger runners also placed in the top 25, and posted career best finishes on the day. Senior Nora Nemere finished second on the team and 17th overall in a time of 20:16. Sophomores Mary Claire Dake, Becca McMahon and Sarah Janacek placed 18th, 20th and 23rd respectively in times of 20:17, 20:28 and 20:33 to round out the top five for Memphis.
Kimberly McVeigh, Karin Brooks and Brittany Pieraccini also competed in the meet for U of M, with McVeigh crossing the line 42nd in 22:14, Brooks placing 47th in 22:54 and Pieraccini finishing 57th in 23:42.
Katarina Lovrantova of UALR won the women's race with a time of 18:19, while Belinda Bargmann of Troy finished second in 18:29, just one second in front of Riendeau.
Team results for the UALR Open were calculated using dual meet scoring, with Memphis finishing third, behind UALR and North Texas, and ahead of South Alabama, Troy, and Centenary.
The U of M women's cross country team will return to action Saturday, Oct. 9, as it travels to Carbondale, Ill., to participate in the Saluki Invitational hosted by Southern Illinois University.
