The University of Memphis men's and women's cross country teams competed at the Rhodes Invitational on Saturday and finished with their best overall performances of the 2009 season.

The women's team, led by Louisa Lingley and Jasmine Darden, finished third overall. Lingley finished eighth overall with a time of 20:29 followed by Darden's ninth place finish time of 20:37. Brittany Duboise finished 15th overall with a time of 21:07. Karoline Shott finished 29th overall with a time of 22:18.

The men's team finished fourth overall led by fifth place finisher Jacob Chapman. Chapman was the top finisher for the Tigers with a time of 27:20 in the 8k. Joe Coneo notched his best finish of the year with a 16th place overall time of 28:32. Jorgen Ekdahl (29:06) finished 24th followed by Curtis Gibbs' (30:02) 37th place finish. Juan Arboleda finished with a time of 31:59, placing 53rd overall.

The cross country teams will return to competitive action on October 10th in Searcy, Ark., as the Tigers will compete at the Bison Stampede. The Bison Stampede represents the last cross country meet before the C-USA Championship meet in Houston, Texas on October 31.
