Tiger Cross Country Finishes Twelfth At The C-USA Meet

CHARLOTTE, N.C. - The University of Memphis cross country teams wrapped up their regular season schedule at the Conference USA Meet in Charlotte, North Carolina, Saturday.
The men's team, led by senior Kevin Foltz, finished ninth of the 11 teams with a total 222 points. Foltz was the first Tiger across the line at 21st in a time of 25:23.7. Junior Christian Schmallegger finished 29th at 25:40 while freshman Balasz Laszlo crossed the line in 25:47.6, good enough for 32nd place. Also scoring for Memphis were junior Robert Goode, 69th in 28:27.2, and freshman Griffin Bridgers, 74th in 30:50.3.
Southern Mississippi captured the men's team title with three runners in the top five. Southern Miss' Paul Kemei won the individual title in 24:01.0.
The women's team struggled, finishing twelfth of the 12 teams with 341 points. Sophomore Lilly Lebron was the first Lady Tiger home in 19:40.7, good enough for 56th. But the Lady Tigers lost freshman Katy Bondeson, who did not finish, and their next scorer didn't cross until freshman Julie Wright crossed the line in 65th. Tara Belt and Andrea Dahlman crossed closely behind one another, with Belt finishing in 74th, while Dahlman finished 75th. Carrie Williams rounded out the Tiger scoring at 77th in 22:54.7.
