Women's Cross Country Finishes 2013 Season at NCAA South Regional

TUSCALOOSA, Ala.-University of Memphis cross country squads completed their 2013 schedule running at the NCAA South Regional Championship, on Friday. The Memphis men placed 15th (356 points), with the women finishing 23rd (599 points), at the University of Alabama Harry Pritchett Cross Country Course.
James Maglasang and Daniel Kuhman were the top-two finishers for the Tigers in the men’s 10K. Maglasang took 34th in a time of 30:56.63, with Kuhman finishing 37th at 31:00.67. Fabian Fiege (82nd, 31:56.71), Aidan Galasso (98th, 32:13.96), Julien Wolf (107th, 32:32.12), Austin Carter (122nd, 33:01.96) and Drew Austell (123rd, 33:01.96) rounded-out Memphis’ seven runners.
The men’s 10K included 26 teams with 173 athletes competing on the course. Georgia (72 points) took first, with Florida (73 points) and Florida State (101 points) placing second and third.
In the women’s 6K race, Martina Rodriguez and Alisha Fitch were the top-two finishers for Memphis. Rodriguez placed 91st in a time of 21:53.75, with Fitch clocking a time of 22:18.90 to finish 120th. Nandia Tyalor (133rd, 22:40.49), Jenny Johnston (136th, 22:45.96), Meagan Nichols (154th. 23:09.04), Taylor Kriha (177th, 24:09.00) and Claire Cash (182nd, 24:35.68) rounded-out the Lady Tigers seven runners.
The women’s 6K featured 27 teams and 194 athletes competing on the course. Florida State (35 points) took first, with Vanderbilt (116 points) and Alabama (143 points) placing second and third.
