Women's Track Finishes Third at ASU Kickoff Classic

JONESBORO, Ark. - The University of Memphis women's track and field team kicked off its 2002-2003 season with a third place finish with 75 points at the Arkansas State University Kickoff Classic, Sunday. With just a partial squad competing in the seven-team meet, the Lady Tigers won three events. Freshman LeKeshua Solomon (Murfreesboro, Tenn./Riverdale) won the 400 meter dash in 59.15 to lead a 1-2-3 Memphis contingent at the finish. Solomon also finished second in the 200 in 25.25. Senior Wendy Ragle (Dallas, Texas/Duncanville HS) grabbed the second Lady Tiger win in the 800 in 2:22.53. Junior Lisa Marie Hyman (Kingston, Jamaica/St. Andrew School for Girls) capped the Lady Tiger wins by breaking her own meet record in the triple jump with a 12.22-meter (40-1) mark. Freshman Sue-Ann Bowen finished second in the 400 in 60.04, while sophomore Chanel Dunn (Nashville, Tenn./Glencliff) finished third. The Lady Tigers will break for exams, then the semester break before returning for their next meet again at Arkansas State, Jan. 25th.
