JONESBORO, Ark. - Memphis' Indoor track and field season got underway, Friday, at the ASU Kickoff Klassic with the multi-events beginning at 3 p.m.

Senior Desiree Blow struck first for Memphis, finishing sixth in the women's pentathlon with 2,984 points in the five-event combination. Far and away her best event was the 800-meter run, in which she finished second with a 2:39.52 mark.

Blow also finished fifth in the long jump with a 5.04 meter leap.

Freshman Matthew Sheppard began the men's heptathlon on Friday, whose conclusion will be drawn tomorrow morning. Sheppard currently sits in 10th place, with his best mark coming in the form of a tie for seventh in the high jump at 1.73 meters.

The men's heptathlon will begin Saturday's festivities, starting at 9:00 a.m. All track and field events will begin and conclude tomorrow, beginning at 11 a.m.
