Jonesboro, Ark.-- - The University of Memphis women's track and field team was led by their field squad, Sunday. The Lady Tigers finished third with 85 points behind Southern Miss (152) and Arkansas State (151).

Junior Kameilah Amaya (Carbondale, Ill./Carbondale) won the women's 20-lb. weight throw with a distance of 15.25 m (50-0.50). Junior Carla Hardy (College Park, Ga./Benjamin Banneker) finished fourth with a throw of 13.34 m, while freshman Monique Nelson (Freeport, TX/Brazosport) finished fifth with a 13.16m throw. Freshman Adria Davis (Memphis, TN/Germantown) finished sixth in the weight throw.

Nelson also won the women's shot put in addition to her finish in the weight throw. The freshman edged Southern Miss' Tamara Dayes by 0.02 meters to win the event with a put of 12.74 m (41-9.50). Hardy finished fourth with a 12.28m put.

Sophomore Emily Mayer (Memphis, TN/Overton), the first female pole vaulter in U of M history, was the lone pole vaulter at the ASU meet, capturing 10 points when she cleared 8-6.

The Lady Tiger sprinters were led by two seniors-Lisa Gardner (Gary, Ind./Lew Wallace) and Natalie Martindale (Kingstown, Jamaica/St. Josephs Convent). Gardner was the only Lady Tiger to advance to the 55-meter dash finals, where she finished ninth in 7.49 seconds. Martindale finished third in the 200 in 25.51, while Gardner finished fifth in 26.11. Martindale also finished seventh in the 400-meter dash in 1:04.11.

Junior Zaneta Ivy (Memphis, TN/Central) finished eighth in the 400.

Sophomore Lilly Lebron (New York, NY/Martin Luther) led the distance squad with two top four finishes. Lebron finished third in the 1600 meter run in 5:43.12 before finishing fourth in the 3000 meter run in 11:35.69. Sophomore Andrea Dahlman (Memphis, TN/St. Agnes) finished sixth in the 5000 meter run in 21:16.10 while freshman Julie Wright (McDonald, Ohio/McDonald) finished eighth in the 800 in 2:27.05.

The Lady Tigers next meet is the Rod McCravy Memorial at the University of Kentucky on Feb. 5.
