Three Tigers Earn Event Titles on Day One at SIU McDonald's Invitational Complete

SIU McDonald's Meet Results Day One CARBONDALE, Ill. - The Memphis track and field team completed their first day of competition at the SIU McDonald's Meet on Friday evening. Day one's events included the weight throw, the pole vault, and the long jump. After day one of competition, the Memphis men sit at the top of the meet standings with a team score of 47. The women's squad finds itself in second place with a day one score of 39 points. For the men, senior Steffen Nerdal and sophomore Knut Syversen took the top two spots in the weight throw with throws of 20.29m (66-07.00)and 18.11m (59-05.00) respectively. Senior Brian Prackett had a solid showing in the pole vault with a second place height of 4.30m (14-01.25) and fellow senior Jason Morgan grabbed third place with a mark of 3.85m (12-07.50). The high point scorers for the day on the women's side were senior Whitney Bolton¬ who won the pole vault with a height of 3.65m (11-11.75) and freshman Inger Anne Froyesdal who took home the long jump championship with a leap of 5.71m (18-09.00). Memphis will continue in competition again tomorrow at the SIU McDonald's Invitational. Competition will commence at 10:00 a.m. with the remainder of the field events and running events will begin at 10:30 a.m.
