MEMPHIS, Tenn. - The University of Memphis women's track and field program will be sending two of their best throwers to nationals. They will be competing at the AT&T USA Indoor Track & Field Championships, held at the Reggie Lewis Track & Athletic Center in Boston, Mass. The meet that will run from February 23-24.

Memphis will have shot putters Susan King and Gail Lee competing in championship.

King, ranked No. 3 in the nation will enter the event with a seed mark of 7.13 meters, which gives her the fifth best mark entering the event.

Lee, a former All-American standout, and now a U of M track and field assistant will enter the event with the seventh best distance and a mark of 16.55 meters.

"Susan and Gail will be competing in the USA National Indoor Track and Field Champs this weekend in Boston. Currently, Susan is ranked 5th and Gail is ranked 7th in the US in the shot put. This is out of the pros and the collegiates, all inclusive! The top 3 athletes will be taken to Spain for the world indoor champs," said Head Coach Kevin Robinson.

"The success of these two young ladies is a testament to the improvement of our women's program. Having been ranked as the 12th best women's track program in the United States is quite an honor! We are starting to build a solid program with a good combination of depth and talent," added Robinson. "Susan and Gail have worked excruciatingly hard to make this happen. They are very talented young women who have an incredibly bright future ahead of them. I feel blessed to be a part of the success that they have brought to the University of Memphis Track and Field program."

The concluding event of USATF's Indoor Visa Championship Series, the AT&T USA Indoor Track & Field Championships is the world's oldest indoor track championship, with the first meet being held in 1888 in New York. The meet will feature some of America's top competitors.
