Memphis Cross Country Programs Receive USTFCCCA All-Academic Team Honors

MEMPHIS, Tenn.-The University of Memphis men's and women's cross country teams each were named United States Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) Division I Cross All-Academic Teams the organization announced on Monday. This marked the second year in a row that both programs have achieved the distinction.
"I am very pleased that our cross country teams earned another all-academic distinction," head track and field/cross country coach Kevin Robinson said. "It speaks volumes for the direction of this program to be able to have the highest finish in program history on the course, and also earn national academic recognition. I am very proud of this group, both athletically and academically. They represent the University very well in all capacities."
Of the 145 men's teams to receive the honor, Memphis recorded the highest cumulative team GPA in the country through the fall 2012 semester at 3.65. Chattanooga followed at 3.64. The women's team sported a GPA of 3.37, ranking 114th of the 200 institutions to receive the honor.
To qualify as a USTFCCCA All-Academic Cross Country Team, the team must have had a cumulative team GPA of 3.00 or better and have started at least five runners at their respective NCAA regional championship.
