Chicago, Ill.-- - The University of Memphis women's track team is in eighth place with seven points, two points behind Marquette, following the first day of the Conference USA Indoor championships.

Junior Kameilah Amaya (Carbondale, Ill.) finished fourth for the U of M in the weight throw with a season-best toss of 17.17 (56-4). That distance shatters her own school record that she set earlier this season of 53-6.50.

Sophomore Carla Hardy also finished in the points in the weight throw, finishing seventh with a toss of 15.21, also a season-best.
