Tigers to Compete at NCAA Indoor Last Chance

Fayetteville, Ark.-Five Tigers will attempt to qualify for the 2013 NCAA Indoor Championships at the Arkansas Last Chance Qualifier on Friday. Sabrina Hochreuther (pole vault), Clara Amat Fernandez (pole vault), Austin Crenshaw (pole vault), Pauls Pujats (pole vault) and Manuel Ziegler (triple jump) will be in action seeking a berth in the post-season finale.
To qualify for the NCAA Division I Indoor Championships an athlete must secure a performance mark that falls in the top-16 on the tfrrs.org NCAA Qualifying List. Memphis multi-event specialist Xenia Rahn has already secured a spot at the NCAA National Championships, with her 4,191 points performance in the women's pentathlon at the Rod McCravy Invitational, which ranks fourth on the list.
Amat Fernandez and Hochreuther are each tied for 61st in the women's pole vault at a school-record height of 3.94m (12'11") which both cleared at last weekend's Conference USA Indoor Championships.The mark earned Amat Fernandez and Hochreuther silver and bronze respectively and All-C-USA honors.
On the men's side, fellow pole vualters Crenshaw and Pujats are tied for 36th on NCAA Qualifying list with their mark of 5.27m. The duo both cleared the height at the C-USA Indoor Championships. Following a jump-off to determine the placing, Crenshaw took gold as Pujats took silver, with both earning All-C-USA honors.
In the men's triple jump, Ziegler currently ranks 24th with his personal-best leap of 15.74m (51'7.75") recorded at the Rod McCravy Memorial. Ziegler took silver at the C-USA Indoor Championships with a jump of 15.68m (51'5.5") earning All-C-USA honors.
