FAYETTEVILLE, Ark.-University of Memphis women's track and field sophomore Xenia Rahn will compete in the pentathlon at the 2013 Indoor Track and Field Championships on Saturday. Rahn qualified for the indoor postseason finale with her school-record mark of 4,191 points set at the Rod McCravy Invitational (1/25/13).

"It's great for her as a sophomore and great for the program," head track and field coach Kevin Robinson said. "I've raved about her in the past about being a testament to what we are trying to get done with our women's program. The work that she has done and the effort she has put in culminates in a situation like this. She is a great athlete to have on board and is a pleasure to coach, day in and day out."

The Hamburg, Germany native's qualifying mark ranks fourth on the NCAA Division I Indoor Qualifying List. The sophomore recently took gold in the pentathlon at the 2013 Conference USA Indoor Track and Field Championships with a score of 4,004 points.

"I'm really excited to be competing," Rahn said. "When I got here last year (freshman), it was my goal to go to the National Championships, but I got injured and I couldn't. I made it my goal my sophomore year and I was able to score enough points to go, so I am really excited about it."

In just two seasons with the women's track and field program, Rahn has etched her name on three program records, including the indoor pentathlon (4,191 points), indoor high jump (1.81m 5'11.25") and outdoor heptathlon (5,325 points). In 2012, she became the program's first-ever gold medalist in the outdoor heptathlon at the 2012 C-USA Outdoor Championships. Rahn is a three time All-C-USA performer taking first-team honors in the indoor pentathlon (2013) and outdoor heptathlon (2012), and second-team honors in the indoor high jump (2013).

Rahn will compete on day two of the NCAA Indoor Championships hosted this year by Arkansas. The first event of the pentathlon will be the 60m hurdles, slated to start at 11:45 a.m. (CT) on Saturday. Results will be posted on GoTigersGo.com as they are made available.
