Lee Earns Second All-American Honor
March 9, 2007 FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. - Memphis senior thrower Gail Lee took home her highest ever finish in an NCAA Championship on Friday, finishing sixth in the nation in the shot put with a throw of 54-1.25 and claiming her second All-American honor. Lee, who became the first ever All-American in Lady Tiger history in 2005 with a 10th-place finish, is now the program's only two-time All-American. She adds the award to her long lists of accolades, which includes four C-USA titles. The throw was Lee's fourth longest of the season and short of the record-setting 56-1.75 mark she set at the Conference USA Championships in February. Lee fouled on four of her six attempts but came through with a solid mark on her fifth attempt to vault her into sixth-place. Lee will rejoin her teammates next weekend as the Memphis track team opens its outdoor season in Memphis at the Rhodes Invitational on March 16.
