Lady Tigers Post Impressive Finishes at CSU-Fullerton

Fullerton, Calif.-- - The University of Memphis women's track team opened its outdoor season with some impressive finishes at the Benny Brown Invitational at CSU-Fullerton, Saturday.
Senior sprinter Natalie Martindale (Kingstown, Jamaica/St. Josephs Convert) finished second in the 100-meter dash to Canada's Esi Benyuarku. Martindale finished with a time of 11.95. That duo was the only group of athletes to run a sub-12 second time in the 100. Martindale also finished sixth in the 200-meter dash with a time of 24.44 seconds.
The Lady Tiger throwers continued where they left off from the indoor season by placing three finishers in the top 10 in the shot put. Sophomore Barbara Wine (Pampa, Texas) finished third in the shot with a put of 13.14 meters (43-1.50) while freshman Monique Nelson (Freeport, Texas/Brazosport) finished sixth with a distance of 12.88 meters (42-3.25).
Junior Carla Hardy rounded out the top 10 by tying for 10th with a distance of 11.39 meters (37-4.5) in the shot.
