KNOXVILLE, TENN.-Two Tiger Track & Field athletes qualified for the NCAA Regional this week at the Sea Ray Relays. Istvan Kerekjarto ran a 1:48.13 to qualify in the 800m and Mate Nemeth ran a 9:04.79 in the 3000m steeplechase to qualify. That ups the Tigers tally to five NCAA Regional Qualifiers as the duo joins Ivan Williams (200m), Gaute Myklebust (discus) and Adam Martin (shot put).

Memphis faired well at the highly competitive meet with several good showings. Kerekjarto's qualifying time was good enough for second place in the event. Janon Busby placed fourth in the triple jump with a mark of 14.93m. Busby is creeping toward and NCAA Regional Qualifying mark in the event. Adam Martin's mark of 16.88m in the shot put placed fourth. His mark was a qualifying mark, however he is already qualified for the regional. Freshman Darius Frye finished ninth in the discus with a toss of 47.65m. Nemeth's qualifying time in the 3000m steeplechase placed fifth. It was the first time Nemeth competed this spring. He has been battling a sore Achilles tendon. Ivan Williams finished 14th in the 200m (21.87) and 12th in the 100m (10.75).

Four Lady Tigers competed at the Sea Ray Relays. Sue-Ann Bowen ran 57.68 in the 400m. Ali Baker ran a 2:15.70 in the 800m. Both times were well above Bowen's and Baker's personal best. Victoria Crawford jumped 12.19m in the triple jump and Cassandra Harding earned a mark of 11.43m in the event.

OXFORD, MISS.-The Lady Tigers split their squad and sent several athletes to the Ole Miss Easter Invite this weekend. The meet consisted of six schools: Ole Miss, Memphis, Arkansas State, UALR, Rhodes College and Rust College.

Mary Claire Dake placed second in the 800m with a time of 2:19.61. Teammates Becca McMahon and Daniele Riendeau placed third and fifth in the event with times of 2:21.75 and 2:24.53 respectively. Shelly Alexin made her debut as a Lady Tiger and placed second in the high jump with a mark of 5-02.00. LaShunda Flake placed fourth in the 400m with a time of 1:02.98 and Josetta Brooks placed fifth with a time of 1:03.65.
