The Billy J. Murphy Track Complex is part of the Murphy Athletic Complex located off of Getwell Road at the University of Memphis Park Avenue Campus. General Admission is $4.00 for adults and admission to children age 10 & under as well as U of M students with valid student I.D. is FREE.

"Our plans are to get back into the rotation of hosting at least one or two meets per year and get some excitement back into the community about track and field and our program because I know we are all excited about it."

Memphis currently has five athletes who have qualified themselves for the NCAA MidEast Regional held in Louisville, Ky. on May 29-30.

Sophomore Aaron Whetstone has qualified in the long jump with a season best mark of 7.50m (24-07.25) in the long jump and 15.01m (49-03.00) in the triple jump. Senior Christian McDonald has recorded a qualifying mark of 62.80m (206-00) in the javelin throw.

On the women's side, senior Sivan Aballi at 15.49m (50-10.00) and sophomore Marina Vojinovic at 14.80m (48-06.75) have both recorded regional qualifying marks in the shot put. Freshman Inger Anne Froysedal is the last of the qualifiers for the Lady Tigers with a triple jump school record mark of 12.90m (42-04.00). The Tigers look to improve on their marks and qualify more individuals for the NCAA regional this weekend as they compete on their home track.

"As a team we're ready to perform well," said Robinson. "We didn't have a great meet last weekend which gave our team some motivation to get back to work this week and iron out some of the kinks. I think we're ready to put up some pretty good numbers. Hopefully the weather will be there and allow us to compete well. I expect some good things to happen."

Teams who have been listed to compete at the Memphis Tiger Invitational include the University of Memphis (M&W), Eastern Illinois University (M&W), Middle Tennessee State (M&W), Western Illinois University (M&W), Rhodes College (M&W), Lindenwood University (M&W), SIU-Edwardsville (M&W), Harding University (M&W), Hendrix College (M&W), Lipscomb University (M&W), Rust College (M&W), Christian Brothers University (M), Belmont University (W), Murray State University (W), and Jacksonville State University (W).

"This is a first for us as a program and we're trying to get our meet as large and as competitive as possible," said Robinson. "This gives our athletes a chance to compete in front of everyone that they know. Friends and family can come in and see them perform. A little home track advantage never hurts anyone."

The track at Murphy Complex is nine 48" wide lanes. The track was resurfaced three years ago and is in good condition. The maximum spike length for all events will be one quarter inch. Please do not use throwing implements in any areas other than those designated as "Competition Areas" at designated times. All parking including competitors, coaches, staff and spectators will be in the paved North Lot adjacent to the track. Entrance to the facility will be at the gate on the north edge of the Murphy Track Complex in the grass area. Please do not attempt to enter through or around the baseball facility as there is construction and renovations being made in the area and entering that area is strictly prohibited for safety reasons.

Only in the event of inclement weather, will anyone be permitted to enter the Murphy Athletic Complex at the southeast corner of the track. In the event in which lightning is present in the area, everyone will be escorted to the indoor turf room at the Murphy Athletic Complex. Following the last lightning strike in the area, a minimum mandatory half an hour time period will follow before any activity will resume on the outdoor track.

Running events will be sections by time as final events. Preliminary field events will consist of three attempts with the top-9 advancing to a three attempt final.
