Sala Inks with Tigers

MEMPHIS, Tenn.- Cross country and distance runner Martina Sala has signed a National Letter of Intent to join the University of Memphis women's track and field and cross country teams for the 2013-14 seasons head coach Kevin Robinson announced on Friday.
"I am very excited to announce the signing of Martina to the Tiger track and cross country family," Robinson said. "Martina is a highly competitive middle distance athlete, who I expect to have an immediate impact within this program. Martina will strengthen the middle distance group on the track, and will immediately make our cross country team better. I expect to see great things from Martina as she develops in our program."
The Olot, Spain product, competed at IES La Garrotxa in track & field and cross country. During the 2012 track and field season, Sala took ninth individually in the process of her teams overall win at the XLVII Cross Country Spanish National Championship with a time of 15:35.00, first in the indoor 800m (2:12.80) at the XXXV Spanish National U18 Championiship, first in the outdoor 400m (59.70) at the Lloret de Mar Spring Athletic Regional Meeting, first in the outdoor 800m (2:12.18) at the LXI Spanish U18 Championship and first in the 1500m (4:48.84) in the third round of the Barcelona-SE Criterium Campmany Meeting.
