American Athletic Confrence Athletes of the Week

MEMPHIS, Tenn.-University of Memphis pole vaulter Sabrina Hochreuther was named the American Athletic Conference Female Field Athlete of the Week the league announced on Tuesday.

Hochreuther took third place at the War Eagle Invitational clearing a program-record height of 4.15m (13’7.25”). The mark ties the junior for 19th in NCAA Division I, 12th on the NCAA East Division I Qualifying List and first on the American Outdoor Track and Field Performance List.

Hochreuther is tied with teammate Carolina Carmichael on each of those lists, who also cleared the program-record height at the War Eagle Invitational but placed fourth based on attempts. The height puts both Tigers in prime position for a berth in the NCAA Outdoor Track and Field East Preliminary to be held this year in Jacksonville, Fla.

This is the second time this outdoor season a Memphis athlete has earned Field Athlete of the Week Honors. Yannik Schaly received the accolade on men’s side on April 8.
