Women's Track competes at Drake Relays
April 27, 2003 DES MOINES, Iowa- Lisa-Marie Hyman placed 11th in the triple jump and the women's 4x200m Relay team qualified for the finals with a time of 1:38.99 at the Drake Relays hosted by Drake University. Hyman's jump of 12.30m was not a personal best in competition with some of the top athletes in the country. The Drake Relays are one of the largest meets in the country each year attracting over 100 schools competing at both high school and the college levels. The 4x200m Relay team comprised of Keenan Gibson, Sue-Ann Bowen, Josetta Brooks and Chanel Dunn qualified for the finals, but scratched after two runners experienced tightness in their leg muscles. The weather didn't cooperate this weekend as the temperatures were in the 40's on Friday and Saturday. The 4x100m Relay team comprised of Keenan Gibson, Chanel Dunn, Sue-Ann Bowen and Josetta Brooks who replaced LeKeshua Solomon ran a 47.09 in the preliminaries. Keenan Gibson and Chanel Dunn competed in the 100m dash. Gibson ran a 11.81 and Dunn just missed becoming the third Memphis Lady Tiger individual to qualify for NCAA Regionals. Her time of 11.86 was just six/one-hundredths of the qualifying mark of 11.80. Her 11.86 was a personal best for Dunn. Neither Dunn nor Gibson qualified for the finals which produced great times at the Drake Relays.
Men's thrower Gaute Myklebust made the trip with the women this weekend and competed in the Men's Discus at the Drake Relays. His throw of 55.32m was good enough for a third place finish.
