Malinowski Named to C-USA All-Academic Team
May 7, 2007 MEMPHIS - Sophomore distance runner Emily Malinowski was named to the Conference USA Track and Field All-Academic Team, as announced by the league office on Monday. Malinowski, a two-time C-USA Commissioner's Honor Roll and Academic Medal winner, has set Memphis' indoor and outdoor school records in the 5,000-meters in 2007. She has qualified for the NCAA Regional outdoor meet in the 3,000-meters steeplechase (10:43.55) and 5,000 (16:48.86) with the second- and third-best times, respectively, in the league. The Slingerlands, N.Y. native, who owns a 3.86 GPA in biology, earned all-conference indoor honors after placing second in the 3,000 (9:51.37) and third in the 5,000 (17:10.49) at the 2007 C-USA Indoor Championships. She was also selected to the C-USA Cross Country All-Academic team in the fall after leading the Lady Tigers in all five meets. Malinowski will seek the first conference title of her career this week as the Tiger track team travels to Houston for the C-USA Outdoor Championships, hosted by Rice May 10-12.
