MEMPHIS, Tenn.- Six University of Memphis track and field athletes appear in the latest International Association of Athletics Federations (IAAF) World Rankings.

A combined three pole vaulters represent the Blue and Gray in the top-100. Pauls Pujats (5.45m, 18’2”) ranks 27th for the men, with Carolina Carmichael (4.20m, 13’9.25”) and Sabrina Hochreuther (4.15m, 13’7.25”) ranking 65th and 87th respectively.

Pujats set the men’s outdoor program-record this season at the Memphis Invitational clearing 5.45m (18’2”). The junior also took gold at the inaugural American Athletic Conference Outdoor Championship with a vault of 3.98m (13’.75”) earning Most Outstanding Men’s Field Performer of the meet. Pujats advanced through the NCAA East Preliminary and will represent the Tigers’ at the 2014 NCAA Outdoor Track and Field Championship.

Carmichael recently raised the women’s outdoor program-record at the NCAA East Preliminary clearing a height of 4.20m (13’9.25”) to advance to the NCAA Outdoor Track and Field Championship. The sophomore took gold at the American Athletic Conference Outdoor Championship, earning All-Conference honors. Carmichael finished the regular-season tied for 18th in the country on the TFRRS.org 2014 NCAA Division I Outdoor Qualifying List.

Hochreuther is coming off an outstanding season with the Tigers that saw the Viernnheim, Germany, native finish the regular season tied for 27th in the country on the TFRRS.org 2014 NCAA Division I Outdoor Qualifying List. Hochreuther also finished the season ranked 15th on the NCAA East Qualifying List, earning the junior her second-straight trip to the NCAA East Preliminary.

In the women's 400m hurdles, Maya Williamson ranks 80th with her program-record time of 57.81 set at the NCAA East Preliminary. Williamson is coming off another strong outdoor track and field campaign which saw the junior take bronze at the American Athletic Conference Outdoor Track and Field Championship earning All-Conference honors. Williamson also advanced to her third-straight NCAA East Preliminary.  

In the men’s shot put, Yannik Schaly ranks 133rd with his season and personal-best throw of 18.50m (60’8.5”) recorded at the 2014 Red Wolf Open. Schaly took gold at the American Athletic Conference Outdoor Track and Field Championship earning All-Conference honors. The sophomore also finished the season ranked 23rd on the NCAA East Qualifying List earning Schaly his second-straight trip to the NCAA East Preliminary.

Luke Vaughn rounds out the list with a ranking of 129 in the men’s discus with his season-best mark of 58.20m (190’4”) coming recently as he advanced through the NCAA East Preliminary to the 2014 NCAA Outdoor Track and Field Championship. The freshman also took silver at the American Athletic Conference Outdoor Track and Field Championship earning All-Conference honors.
