MEMPHIS, Tenn. - The University of Memphis men's and women's cross country teams will open up the season on Saturday, September 15, at the Old Timers Classic in Bowling Green, Ky.

On the women's side, the Lady Tigers return one competitor from last year's squad in junior Emily Malinowski. Malinowski will lead the group of newcomers this weekend, including the Australian duo of junior Tina Sherratt and sophomore Anneli Uys, freshmen Lyndsey Rastasiewicz and Jessie Wilks.

The men's side will see the return of senior Sam James and junior Juan Arboleda. They are accompanied by a highly talented bulk of newcomers that will look to be competitive in conference action. Sophomore transfer Jorgen Ekdahl, will make his cross country debut in a Memphis uniform, and should be one of the Tigers top competitors to watch.

"We're excited about the start of the season. We have a young group of guys and ladies this year," said coach Mike Power. "We have been training hard and have been preparing ourselves for later on in the season. This weekend we will run on a challenging course, but it will help to show where our training is at the moment."
