NASHIVLLE, Tenn.- University of Memphis cross country teams return to action at the Vanderbilt Commodore Classic, on Saturday, in Nashville, Tenn. The men's squad takes to the course for the 8K at 9 a.m. (CT), followed by the women's 6K at 10 a.m. (CT).

"The meet will have a large number of teams on a course that we are familiar with," cross country coach Doug Clark said. "This will be a great measure of how we have progressed as a team compared to last year at this meet."

Memphis squads face a competitive field of teams ranked nationally in the United States Track and Field & Cross Country Coaches latest standings. On the women's side, host-institution Vanderbilt will be in the field. The Commodores currently rank sixth in the USTFCCCA National Poll. For the men, No, 29 Eastern Kentucky will be in the mix.

The Tigers also square off against several teams ranked in the USTFCCCA South Region which they could potentially see again in the NCAA post-season. The men's field includes Mississippi State (5th), Tennessee (7th), Belmont (8th), MTSU (11th) and Chattanooga (12th). On the women's side, Lipscomb (5th), Mississippi State (6th), Belmont (9th) and Tennessee (10th) will be on the course.

In Memphis's first meet of the season, the Memphis Brooks Twilight Classic, the men took fourth overall with James Maglasang (6th) and Daniel Kuhman (7th) placing in the top-10 individually. The Memphis women finished seventh overall, with Louisa Lingley (9th) placing in the top-10.
