MEMPHIS, Tenn. --- The Memphis women's cross country team will travel to Little Rock, Ark., this weekend to compete in the UALR Open, hosted by University of Arkansas Little Rock.

Coming off solid performances at the Memphis Twilight Classic, confidence runs high throughout the women's cross country squad. At UALR, the Lady Tigers hope to build on this confidence and improve their races at the second meet.

"I am pleased with our performances in the Memphis meet," said Coach Jonas Holdeman. "We have had good workouts the last two weeks and the girls have a lot of confidence right now, so we are looking forward to Saturday."

The women's portion of the UALR Open will be feature 10 colleges from all around the South. It will be 5000m race, slightly longer than the three mile distance that was run in the previous meet.

"I really expect our times this weekend to be better than two weekends ago even though the race is about 150m longer," Holdeman said.

Included in the women's field for the UALR Open are cross-town rival Christian Brothers University and Sun Belt Conference members UALR and South Alabama, along with three other Division I universities.

The UALR Open will be run at Rebmasen Golf Course in Little Rock, Ark., with the women's race beginning at 11 a.m. on Saturday, Sept. 25.
